This blog is my starting point to get an idea that I have had in my head documented. So excuse me if this seems to rattle on or it's a bit incomplete but I would like to socialize this idea and get other to comment on it.
I have been working with SAP for a long time. Over the last few years I have been architecting the SAP ecosystems for my clients and lately I have been delving into Enterprise Architecture (EA). After reading a considerable amount of documentation I am unable to find a clear structure to EA.
I have developed the IT Reference Framework to help enhance the level of communication between all parties involved. This framework also illustrates the interdependencies between the different levels. IT applications cannot exist without proper IT infrastructure and IT infrastructure cannot exist without the Physical layer.
This is the business vision on where the enterprise is heading and the strategic plan to get there.
Requirements are developed and will come from both internal (i.e.Strategic Plan) and external (i.e. audit & reporting).
From these requirements we develop operational business processes.
An IT application supports the business processes
The IT Infrastructure supports the IT application (servers, networking, storage)
Houses the IT infrastructure (geographic location, clean electricity, environmental controls, security)
